Ted A. Smith is Associate Professor of Preaching and Ethics at the Candler School of Theology of Emory University. He is the author of The New Measures: A Theological History of Democratic Practice (Cambridge, 2007) and most recently Weird John Brown: Divine Violence and the Limits of Ethics (Stanford, 2014). He works at the intersections of practical and political theology, with special attention to the forms preaching and worship take in modern societies.
