Emran El-Badawi

EE-14-PewsEmran El-Badawi is assistant professor and program director of Arab Studies at the University of Houston, as well as founding executive director of the International Qur’anic Studies Association. He is author of The Qur’an and the Aramaic Gospel Traditions (Routledge 2013) and co-author of A History of the Classical Middle East (forthcoming, Cognella Press 2016). He is also conference director of “Communities of the Qur’an,” to be held at Rice University (2016). His research interests include the origins of Islamic tradition as well as modern Arab liberalism. Prof. El-Badawi has published in English as well as Arabic and has made dozens of media appearances, including for The New York Times, Al-Jazeera and Association Relative à la Télévision Européenne.
