Alexander Yakobson is Associate Professor of History at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, and Research Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, Jerusalem. Yakobson writes about democracy and politics in the ancient world, as well as modern nationalism and democracy. His recent books are with Azar Gat, Nations: The Long History and Deep Roots of Political Ethnicity and Nationalism (2012), and with Amnon Rubinstein, Israel and the Family of Nations: The Jewish Nation-State and Human Rights (2008).
